We shipped an improved onboarding experience for Cursor. Making the cold start more approachable and personalized, especially for the less technical, was something I was eager to work on even before I joined.↗

Try to teach a novice Code or Codex and you will realize how baffling they are to many. They assume you know model names & thinking levels & projects vs. folders & skills & plugins & connectors, etc. Even just clicking "+" can lead to a flood of complexity. Much is undocumented↗

At Cursor, every GTM and non-engineering hire goes through building an onboarding project. They use an internal guide to go from getting started to a deployed project. Based on the interest in this guide, recorded and sharing a public version! you can find the link below ↓↗

My favourite criticism of @Superhuman. "Ah but high touch onboarding is not scalable". Really? Each rep can do 40 onboardings per week, dropping $14,400 in ARR. With 4 weeks holiday p.a that is $691,200. $691,200 x 150 reps = $103.6M ARR. I rest my case. Scalable.↗

💌 I've been improving @WIP's onboarding flow the last few weeks. The latest addition is an email sequence spread out over 8 days. The goal is to teach new members about the how (practical) and why (philosophical) of WIP. First email: 👋 Welcome to WIP (15 min. after signup)↗
